‘Let us all rejoice in the Lord, for our Saviour is born to the world. True peace has descended from heaven.’

– Entrance Antiphon, Midnight Mass

Today is day 1 in the Octave of Christmas: the day when light comes into the world. We rejoice together in the birth of Jesus and bear witness to the world the love and mercy Christ revealed to all.

The people that walked in darkness has seen a great light; on those who lived in a land of deep shadow a new light has shone.

-Isaiah

Prayer for Christmas Day

Lord God,

We pray for those for whom 2020 has cast deep shadows.

May we be missionaries of comfort and joy

opening wide the doors

and bringing the light of your salvation to the world

Amen.

Focus for reflection:

Today our focus is light. Jesus the Light of the World is born!

Find a quiet place. Perhaps light a candle. Take a moment to reflect on how you can reflect the light of Christ in the world.
