In September, we pray with Pope Francis that the death penalty, which attacks the sanctity and dignity of every human person, be legally abolished in every country.

‘The firm rejection of the death penalty shows the extent to which it is possible to recognise the inalienable dignity of every human being and to accept that he or she has a place in this universe’

– Pope Francis

Our focus for September

  • It’s back to school for students and staff in September. We pray that you will all have a happy, successful and peaceful term! For resources and activities which explore Catholic Social Teaching in meaningful, relevant ways, visit missiontogether.org.uk
  • We’ve loved getting out and about, meeting our supporters and volunteers this summer! The joy continues into Autumn, with more Mission Masses on the horizon. Find your nearest diocesan event here>>
  • The Season of Creation begins on 1 September. It’s a time to remember our duty of stewardship to all life on earth. This year, we’re encouraged to listen to the voices of those who suffer the impacts of climate change – many of whom are often silenced or overlooked in public discourse. Find out more at seasonofcreation.org and look out for prayers and stories on our website throughout September inspired by Laudato Si and care of the common good.
  • Next month is Mission Month, leading up to World Mission Sunday on 23 October. Throughout September, look out for updates, news and prayers for our previous WMS campaigns, and check out your latest Mission Today for daily reflections and the Holy Father’s World Mission Sunday message for 2022.
