Missio is an instrument through which Catholics in England and Wales can support the training of future priests and sisters in mission dioceses all over the world. Missio also has a special, long-standing relationship with five seminaries in Kenya, India, Malawi, Nigeria and Sri Lanka. These seminaries offer the opportunity to sponsor the training of a future priest.
When you sponsor a seminarian, you are playing your part in helping God’s immense love to reach the furthest corners of the earth – transforming our world.
Dear Sponsor,
Warm greetings to you in Christ!
I type this letter to you with deep gratitude for your generous support for my seminary formation, both materially and spiritually. Your kind help lightens the practical burdens of my studies and daily needs, allowing me to focus wholeheartedly on prayer, formation and pastoral activities.
Even more profoundly, it strengthens me spiritually. Knowing that someone I have never met is accompanying me with such kindness reminds me constantly that I am not alone in this journey; it is always nourished and strengthened by the prayers, sacrifices and love of the people of God. It is really a great comfort.
I always feel that I am supported, remembered and in the good thoughts of someone that I have never met, and they long for the day of my ordination.
I know that you support me by making many sacrifices. I assure you that your sacrifices will definitely bear fruit – not only my life as a future priest, and but also in the Church in Sri Lanka through my future priestly ministry.
Please know that I pray for you and all your intentions in my daily prayers. At every Holy Mass and while celebrating the Liturgy of Hours, I offer a special remembrance for all the benefactors who sustain young seminarians like me.
May the Lord bless you abundantly for your goodness, and may he reward you with his peace and joy!
‘A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed’ – Proverbs 11:25
With sincere gratitude and prayers,
Br Mishal
