Missio is an instrument through which Catholics in England and Wales can support the training of future priests and sisters in mission dioceses all over the world. Missio also has a special, long-standing relationship with five seminaries in Kenya, India, Malawi, Nigeria and Sri Lanka. These seminaries offer the opportunity to sponsor the training of a future priest.

When you sponsor a seminarian, you are playing your part in helping God’s immense love to reach the furthest corners of the earth – transforming our world.

Dear Sponsor,

I am Brother Valentino, a Malawian Catholic seminarian. I am in the second year of Theology at St Peter’s Major Seminary in Zomba. I am one of the seminarians who is benefiting from the support of Missio England and Wales.

Formation in the seminary is holistic, and for it to be successful a seminarian requires both financial and spiritual support, which you, my benefactors, give. I am grateful for the financial and spiritual support that Missio England and Wales offers to my seminary formation.

Your financial support enables the seminary to provide for us with various necessities like food, library books, spiritual literature, pastoral equipment, sporting materials, buying projectors and learning tools and carrying out maintenance work to create a conducive environment for my formation.

Your spiritual support is equally vital to our formation journey. Your prayers give us joy and courage, knowing that we are not alone on this journey. You help us to overcome fears knowing that we have people of good will always with us.

Proverbs 11: 25 says that a generous soul will prosper and he or she who refreshes others, will himself or herself be refreshed. May these words always strengthen you in all the efforts to support our seminary in the work of formation.
