Missio’s children’s branch, Mission Together, was delighted to receive support from schools across England and Wales during Lent. One such school was St Basil’s Primary School in Liverpool Archdiocese.
To help the children find out more about the charity they were supporting in Lent, RE Coordinator Mrs Kate Dooley invited Mission Together representative Claire to St Basil’s to deliver an assembly. Claire explained to the children how, by praying and sharing with Mission Together, they can ensure that children living in poverty overseas have the things they need to live with dignity and hope.

Special delivery
A few weeks after their Mission Together assembly, St Basil’s pupils gathered in the school grounds for a very special treasure hunt – a fun and educational whole-school activity entitled ‘Delivering our Mission’.
Pupils worked in their house teams, with each house linked to a Mission Rosary continent (Asia, Oceania, Europe, the Americas and Africa) and to one of the school’s core values: Compassion, Service, Courage, Justice and Peace. They worked to find and collect ‘Together tickets’ – each representing countries in which Mission Together funds life-giving children’s projects – and deliver them to different locations around the school grounds.
Thank you
Mrs Dooley shared:
‘We wanted to support this amazing charity and we have had a great time on our fundraising event for them. Despite some rain on the day, pupils still managed to get outside and they had a great time! We had a lot of fun and raised money at the same time! Together we managed to raise £221.09!’
We are so grateful to the children and staff at St Basil’s for their brilliant fundraising. What an achievement!

The next generation of mission
Mission Together is the children’s branch of Missio – the Catholic Church’s official charity for overseas mission. Its aim is two-fold: to support life-giving children’s projects in places of poverty and turmoil, and to support the mission of Catholic education in England and Wales by providing free educational and worship resources.
During Lent, and throughout the year, many schools across England and Wales choose to support Mission Together. They make a huge difference to children’s lives and futures around the world.
