In January, we pray with Pope Francis that educators may be credible witnesses who help the youngest and most vulnerable. May they teach fraternity rather than competition.

‘We want to be defenders of the identity and dignity of every individual and to teach young people to accept everyone without discrimination. Education commits us to accept people as they are, not how we want them to be, without judging or condemning anyone.’

– Pope Francis

Our Focus for January

  • Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI passed away on the 31 December 2022. Please join us in prayers of thanksgiving for his life of faith, and for the repose of his soul. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
  • Make 2023 your year of mission! We’re kicking off the New Year with a Novena to Blessed Pauline Jaricot, whose Feast Day is on 9 January. Don’t worry if you missed the beginning; it’s never too late to begin discerning your mission. You can access all the 9 days here, to pray the Novena in your own timeframe>>
  • New Year resolutions come and go, but if you’re looking for something a little more fulfilling during 2023, why not try our four alternative resolutions? Find them here>>
  • As children and staff return to school, we give thanks for all the amazing educators across England and Wales. If you’re an educator looking for resources for your classroom, please do take a look at our Primary and Secondary Schools pages for our bespoke, free downloadable activities for the liturgical calendar, feast days and much, much more!
