Missio is an instrument through which Catholics in England and Wales can support the training of future priests and sisters in mission dioceses all over the world. Missio also has a special, long-standing relationship with five seminaries in Kenya, India, Malawi, Nigeria and Sri Lanka. These seminaries offer the opportunity to sponsor the training of a future priest.
When you sponsor a seminarian, you are playing your part in helping God’s immense love to reach the furthest corners of the earth – transforming our world.
Dear Sponsor,
My name is Br Kingsley and I belong to the Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki in Nigeria. At present, I am doing the final year of my theological studies here in Bigard Memorial Seminary in Enugu. I must acknowledge that I am happy to share with you the impact of your sponsorship programme towards my training to the priesthood.
Indeed, I am delighted to inform you that the support received has continued to make my journey to the priesthood an almost seamless one. I have been able to meet up my daily needs and as well, procure the essential theological books crucial for my intellectual formation, all thanks to your financial assistance to me.
Certainly, I and my fellow seminarians here in Bigard Memorial Seminary feel indebted to you and Missio in England & Wales for assisting us in bearing this burden, thereby permitting us to focus on our formation.
In addition, I must remark that the consciousness of your support, both financially and spiritually, makes me feel so special and gives me much sense of a child whom God and humanity loves.
‘…and since the Church is in the world as a leaven and as a kind of soul for human society, it must be imbued with a spirit of charity, which is the love of God and of neighbour.’ – Gadium et Spes, 27
No doubts, these words motivate you and your team and I am thankful they do.
I assure you of my prayers also. May God bless you.
Br Kingsley
