Missio has a special, long-standing partnership with the Christ the King Major Seminary in Nyeri, whereby supporters can sponsor the training of a seminarian or future priest. You may have read the condensed version of the Rector’s message in Mission Today. Here is Fr Daniel’s full message:
Greetings from Christ the King Major Seminary in the Archdiocese of Nyeri – Kenya. We are doing well as a community, and we thank God for his providence the whole of this past year.
To our Missio benefactors, we thank you most sincerely for the enormous support that we have received from you over the years. May our good Lord bless you abundantly.
There are 398 seminarians currently studying at our Seminary.
At the beginning of 2025, we had nine of our seminarians from Eldoret, Nakuru, Kisumu and Lodwar Dioceses ordained to the Diaconate. They exercised their diaconate ministry in the seminary for one semester.
After completion of their studies, the Deacons from Eldoret Diocese were ordained to priesthood in August 2025. The Deacons from Nakuru, Kisumu and Lodwar Dioceses are still awaiting their ordination to priesthood.
Events and celebrations in 2025
Here in Kenya, the people of God feel that the Catholic Church is responsive to the challenges facing them.
In 2025, there were special celebrations in our Seminary, such as the graduation of our students, the installation to the Ministries of Lectors and Acolytes, and the annual visit by the Catholic Women’s Association of our ecclesiastical province.
The challenges we face
The challenge for us is the hiking in prices of commodities, due to inflation. This strains our budget. We try to overcome this by cutting our expenditures and doing more with our subsistence farming.
To become self-sustaining, we are doing dairy farming, growing crops for consumption, poultry farming, and keeping pigs and beef cattle their meat. We hope to do better in harnessing the resources of our farm by employing the best methods to sustain our self-sustenance projects.
We send our regards to the whole fraternity of Missio and assure you of our prayers.
Fr Daniel, Rector
