In April, we pray with Pope Francis for the dignity and worth of women to be recognised in every culture, and for an end to the discrimination they face in various parts of the world.

‘Let us make heard the voices of women who are victims of abuse and exploitation, marginalisation, and undue pressures. Let us become the voice of their pain, and condemn the injustices to which they are subjected’ – Pope Francis

Our focus for April

‘The tomb of Jesus is open and it is empty! From this, everything begins anew!’ – Pope Francis, Easter Urbi et Orbi

  • As our Easter journey continues, we keep up our prayers for peace. May the joy and hope of Easter infuse the world’s darkest corners, bringing light and hope. Join us to pray each week for the whole world, through the Mission Rosary>>
  • 8 April is the Feast of The Annunciation of the Lord. We give thanks for Mary’s ‘yes’. Inspired by her bravery and courage, we pray especially for women around the world who, like Mary, open their hearts to what is possible and, in doing so, change our world for the better. May Our Blessed Mother watch over all women and give them strength.
  • 21 April is Vocations Sunday! Missio believes no vocation in mission dioceses should be turned away through lack of funds. That’s why the Holy Father asks us to channel help from our supporters in England and Wales to help build the future of our Church. Find out how you can help Missio support vocations across the missionary world here>>
  • 23 April is the Feast of St George. We remember that he is the Patron Saint for England, and also many other countries throughout the world. We ask St George, liberator of captives and defender of the poor, to intercede for peace across every continent. May he protect all nations and people.
