Violet is a seven-year-old altar server from St Gabriel’s Church in Alsager.
Earlier this year her parish priest explained to her about how we care for our church family around the world through our prayers and donations to the Red Box.
It struck a chord with Violet, who saw how she could make a real difference. So she asked Missio’s Diocesan Director for Shrewsbury, Fr Tony Grace, for her own Red Box.
Violet’s missionary efforts have even been influencing the rest of her family, too.
She says, ‘My brother and I put half of our money-box contents in, because my brother has been learning about Africa and he wanted to help the children.
‘During Lent, my nanny gave us the money she would have spent on cakes and biscuits, too. I was amazed when Fr Tony told me to look under my Red Box to find my total – an amazing £17.69! We’ve now started collecting for our third box.’
A big thank you to Violent and her family for reaching out to others all over the world. You’re never too young to be a missionary!
