Missio supports disadvantaged and vulnerable children globally. We help provide education, faith formation, orphanages, health clinics, children’s homes, and nutrition programmes, and more. Through our children’s branch, Mission Together, children here in England and Wales are helping less fortunate children in God’s global family today – children helping children.
Just before the summer break, St Edmund’s Primary teacher, Mrs Bell, wrote to Mission Together to tell us about the impressive missionary efforts of her school’s Nursery & Reception classes.
The classes joined together to raise awareness of Mission Together – their chosen class charity – through prayer, games, singing, and by hosting their own Mission Together ‘Day of Many Colours‘.
Their joint efforts helped to support some of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable children, who are helped by missionaries through the Missio global network.
Efforts to be proud of
The Day of Many Colours aims to develop in children a missionary spirit of attention towards others, through prayer, charity, and action. Leading up to their special day, the children had great fun undertaking a sponsored colour treasure hunt at home with their families. Their sponsorship money added to other fundraising efforts, and in total they raised a whopping £877 for our overseas children’s mission!
Nursery and EYFS Class Teacher, Mrs Bell, shared:
‘We are extremely proud of our children’s efforts and the response from their families. We are so pleased to have raised this amount for our class charity, especially after learning about Mission Together over this academic year. The children have learnt that they are helping other children around the world who are just like them, but who need extra support and resources so that they can thrive too.’
Thank you so much!
We want to say a huge ‘Thank You!’ to the children of St Edward’s – and all our amazing school supporters across England and Wales – for your tireless fundraising and prayer efforts! Because of you, more children around the world get the help they need, and come to know that they are loved – by God and by us.
How to get involved
St Edward’s was visited by Mrs Helena McGouran, who is the Mission Together Director for the Middlesbrough diocese, and ran an assembly for the children introducing them to Mission Together’s work.
