What is being carried out in your lives as it was in his, is a new commandment; because the night is over, and the real light is already shining.
– I John 2:3-11
On the fifth day of the Octave of Christmas, we reflect on the enormity of what Christ’s coming means to the world. God coming into our world in human form rewrites all the rule books. Darkness is banished, and God’s divine light shines on us for eternity. With this knowledge comes true peace.
Now Master, you can let your servant go in peace, just as you promised, because My eyes have seen the salvation which you have prepared for all the nations to see,
-Luke 2:22-35
Prayer for the Fifth day of the Octave
Lord Jesus,
You came into our mortal world
that we might have everlasting life with you.
We pray for those nearing the end of life,
that your birth renews in them God’s promise of eternal life.
We ask you to ease their fears and bring them peace.
Amen.
Focus for reflection
Today our focus is peace. In the midst of our cares and worries, how precious is the gift of a deep, true moment of peace!
Find a quiet place. Perhaps light a candle.
Let us take refuge in the calm of God’s presence in our hearts.
